To calculate the distance between you and an item, we need to know exactly where that item is located. If we allowed posts to general locations such as New York City, then you wouldn't know whether that item is 3 blocks or 13 miles away.
We totally respect that. Your peace of mind always comes first. Try using a nearby intersection or even a local point of interest (e.g. Empire State Building). Just keep in mind that it won't be as accurate.
