Ib Kofod Larsen curved armchair w/brass arm rests

For sale is a very cool, rare and unique chair designed by Ib Kofod Larsen for Selig in the 50’s.

The elusive “Brass Chair” appears on the first page of the 2nd Modern Furnishings for the Home book by Hennessy in the late 50’s. Doweled wood frame with curved upholstered seat and back rest the back rest is supported by screws that are anchored by two large bulbous (drum stick shape) wood backings that are part of the back legs. What makes this chair unique is the thin curving brass tube arms that secure to the front legs and continue around the back through the bulbous backings. The upholstery fabric is the original creme vinyl. Unique 50’s Danish modern chair.

Size: 27.5"t x 21″ × 20″. Sits at 18". In overall good vintage condition. is some moderate wear to the legs and the seat has light yellowing and minor indented marks from use and wear. The brass has tarnished areas and has some minor yellowing. There is a small “T” shaped tear (less than one inch) that I have “sealed” with a clear epoxy lacquer so that there is no risk of it tearing any more.

This chair sells for over $1200 in designer furniture shops and is a lovely addition to any Danish Modern Mid Century decor. Cash only, 4th floor walk up.
