Purchased from the Warner Bros. Prop Sale in 2008! This very unique Cake Box is over a hundred years old and has the patina to prove it! Perfect to add the the kitchen or butler’s pantry to add a touch of vintage to your home…This cake/bread box is from the late 19th or early 20th century. It’s decorated in front with a lithograph of Wilhelm von Kaulbach’s painting of “Goethe’s Lotte” and on the sides and top with “Goethe’s Lili” also by Kaulbach.
Leopold Schepp (1841-1926) created a very successful wholesale business in the dried coconut industry. By 1925 Schepp’s innovative preservation techniques brought in 1 million a year in business which earned him the title “Cocoanut King”.
