Definitely an antique – I wish I knew more about it historically. Although I do know it is a bit of rustic coolness and would add a nice warm, cozy touch to your abode. It has lost its lid somewhere along its long journey across the sea. It once held someone’s most prized possessions as they embarked on a journey to a new life.
Condition is good, missing the original lid. Dovetailed joints and solid in structure with metal braces reinforcing it. The back has been painted white and the metal is showing a bit of rust. It still has one of its original rope handles. Clean it up, add a top and use it as a storage bench, storage ottoman, coffee table with storage. See, there is a theme here, called storage. Put all your stuff away out of sight and get a really cool piece of rustic historical furniture at the same time.
