 1968 Airstream Ambassador for sale

1968 Airstream Ambassador for sale

Please see more pictures here: http://thesilverwhale.tumblr.com/

The airstream is located in New Paltz NY

We are selling our beautiful Airstream Ambassador. It is 28ft. and a joy to live or travel in. We bought it in April and after living in it this summer on a farm in the Hudson Valley, felt drawn to move back to the city, so we’ll (sadly) be parting with it.

Why it’s incredible and you should buy it (and enjoy it!):
It has a great classic feel with a few modern and beautiful adaptations. Almost all of the inside is original, including all of the bathroom, most of the fixtures, etc. Anything we removed, we still have available if you want.

-Converted the couch into a beautiful bed with new custom foam mattress tailored to space, and curtains to give it a separate bedroom feel. (can still easily be converted back into a couch.
-Converted one of the back twin beds into a couch (which doubles as a bed), and the other twin bed we removed and put in a custom built in bench and table for a work and eating area.
-Brand New: warm redwood Pergo floors, convertor, water pump. New stove, oven, water heater, microwave, fridge (runs on gas and electric), custom made curtains for all the windows.
-All of the appliances work perfectly and are ready for full-timing or vacation, including refrigerator, stove, microwave, oven, water heater, etc.
-The interior and exterior systems all work as well, including: drawers, doors, windows, LP system (bottles are certified), furnace, Air Conditioning, electric heating (via AC unit), everything on the 12-V system (lights, fans, thermostat), etc.
-Stereo has updated speakers in front and rear
-New tires and perfect brakes. All exterior and interior lights work.
-All of the following fixtures and systems are also functioning perfectly: water tank, drains, shower, faucets, electric jack, and awning.
-The bathroom is almost completely original and is really gorgeous. It has a completely new toilet with a new flange seal and bidet.
It has a solid floor, with brand new subfloor and Pergo throughout (the only exception being the 1/4 round trim that we didn’t put in) and comes with all of the paperwork since the airstream was purchased.
-Additionally, we’ll include a brand new (used for less than 500 miles) hitch with weight distribution bars for an additional $300.
-Finally, we’d be happy to throw in a custom macerator pump that we commissioned to empty out the Airstream tank and connect to a household or RV park septic system

The Repair Items:
There are some minor issues with the Airstream that could be fixed within a few days so that you would be ready to go. We’d actually been living full-time in the Airstream in its current condition, so you could also repair some of these items gradually, as you had time.

Air conditioner
-The air conditioner works great but had a short a couple weeks ago and one of the electrical caps melted so we stopped using it. We’ve been told that this is likely a minor issue that can be fixed by re-capping the wires (we didn’t do it because we’re not electrically savvy!)
-There is a small leak coming from the roof when it rains really strong for more than a half hour. This can likely be completely fixed by replacing the gasket on the airconditioner and/or cleaning the drain pipe.

Window leaks:
Because of the way that Airstream windows are installed, many Airstream windows leak in heavy rain. Ours also sometimes leak (from the top corners.) We’ve had on our list for a while to do some work with sealant and maybe replacing a window gasket or two, so we’d suggest you investigate that, but we’ve been living in it as-is.

Front fan
-The gear on the front fan is not very strong and sometimes works slowly.

Angle Iron on the back
-One of the angle irons supporting the black tank is corroding a bit and will need to be replaced at some point. We were told that as long as this is done at some point in the next few years, it’s not a problem.

The exhaust fan in bathroom is missing (for using the toilet)— but any 12V exhaust fan can be put in, if desired.

We will be showing the airstream August 18th, 19th and 20th (which is a Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Please contact Etan at 303 550 481four to schedule a showing, or email.
