Sample duties list for MARKETING/BIZ DIV DIRECTOR:
Using social media or recruiting passionate SM intern to get our first 2000 users and crowd source needed content.
Research to find CPU (or CAC) relevant numbers for similar space (wellness/personal growth or self help subscription web sites).
Finding marketing partners that rapidly accelerate growth in numbers of users, which in turn would increase chances of getting major funding.
Get us our first 300 Paying Customers for at least $4.95/mo, which we hope to move to $9.95, and then $19.95 within a year.
Closely monitor web analytics and user feedback, recruiting interns and housewives or whatever to find out what works and what does not—what users most want and most benefit from, to better tweak the site accordingly, and recommend the next needed feature including what features to drop, following the philosophy laid out in Steve Blank’s 4 Steps to an Epiphany (The manifesto for the Consumer Driven model of Development and Marketing)
Figure out our ideal persona(s) —who most likely to pay for CoupleSpace
Figure out best way to get best deal from major health insurance companies, and EAP companies, and also dating sites, dioceses, unions, etc
Supervise recruitment of VP Marketing for Latin American and/or European Operations
Continually monitor for upcoming Competitors, and recommend features we should adopt, including changes in HP copy (marketing mugs)
Figure out best performance based advertising strategy
Figure out best way to maximize SEO and SEM
Closely coordinate with VP of PR and CEO, and VP of Product Dev
For the first year or until gross income becomes sufficient to have real marketing budget: pursue in systematic way all free ways to market our site
Monitor other personal growth, wellness and self help sites to glean new and better viral tactics
Organize and lead focus groups if needed
Get contacts in large market survey companies to enable us to piggy back on paid surveys in order to get valuable mkt survey data without spending money
For potential Financial Research Director (leading to CFO): To improve existing 5 year financial projections (knowledge of customer acquisition costs for one or ideally two successful self-help or lifestyle company using subscription model (e.g.LiveMocha.com, WeightWatchers.com, FitDay.com, etc ) would be big plus, but not necessary
REQUIREMENTS:
Proficient in Internet research, manipulation of excel spreadsheets, networking, knowing more ways than google to find people, and comfortable making short followup calls. Must be smart, a self-starter, extremely organized, a problem solver, have great organizational skills, be able to work in a fast-paced environment, detail-oriented, be willing to call me frequently with problems, suggestions, updates, and progress, and finally you should be passionate about our mission.
DESIRABLE:
You have an Impressive Mentor; you’re highly connected on linkedIn and/or have high up contacts with potential strategic partners (high ups in health insurance, major dating sites, or national religious organizations, or mega churches or unions) and experience with other startups.

Using a conceptual advance in the use of the Internet, CoupleSpace will pioneer a huge virtually untapped Internet market, couples and in particular unhappy couples who cannot afford or trust a therapist, to help them save and revitalize their marriages/committed relationships. The Market: 40-50MM unhappy couples, 95% of whom cannot afford or otherwise unwilling to seek professional couple or family therapy, but a high percentage of whom would pay $X/mo subscription for a web app like ours—one that can do 8 things that a therapist cannot do, and most of what a good cognitive-behavioral therapist does.

To not only be a huge financial success, but also a societal success—preventing and reducing vast amounts of suffering every day, month, and year and “Making honesty easy”™ Most importantly, we have a great core team and a beta (in stealth).

HOURS: 15-30 hrs per week (the more, the better), but expected to go fulltime as soon as we are funded.
LOCATION: remote ok; NY City or Bay Area Preferred. CEO and VP PD/PM in NYC; TechCofounder in Bay Area
DURATION: 2-3 months minimum for Internships
START DATE : sooner the better
COMPENSATION: Possible minimal salary: We are not yet funded but close.
All of the cofounders are currently unpaid, but we are confident we can convince you we are close to funding and/or becoming self sufficient through our own income (subscription and licensing model).
