Stain, acrylic, shellac on wood board, 2010
This is a high-end shabby chic look painting. All handmade! Even the wood boards are hand crafted, what makes each piece even more a solid and very unique artwork!
Each piece is painted with up to 20 layers. After each layer of silver leaf, stain or paint I gave it another shellac coat, let it sit for at least a day until I sanded the boards for distressing and smoothness. In the end several layers of shellac are responsible for the absolutely gorgeous and shiny surface, which plays in a beautiful contrast with the shabby chick look.
All of my wooden artwork looks way better in real even! I’ve received really great feedback during exhibitions. So, if you live in the Bay Area and you have the chance to come to San Francisco, please stop by at my studio and get your own real impression!
Each artwork is signed by the artist on the right hand edge of the wood board (detail photos coming soon. Until then please don’t hesitate to ask for it and I’ll email it) All edges are also treated with silver leaf and/or stain, so that they correspond harmonically with the front side of the painting. The back of each artwork shows plain, untreated wood.
