By translating those brief electric moments of feelings in the ‘Roller Coaster series’ it’s meant to feature pure energy. Each second of our life is connected to a certain feeling. But what is the color of a certain mood, and what shape does it have? How does it feel to take a risk? How does happiness or optimism look like?
With the Roller Coaster series it was my very urge to tell the story of ups and downs of my immigration ‘career’ while capturing all major emotions with high end acrylic paint, and theatrical brushes and tools. It was an exciting and fulfilling process to experience a broad variety of feelings over again. While thinking through all those seven years of endless paperwork, restrictions, and an unknown future I gave myself only a few seconds to pick color, tool(s), and shape to express that very moment of one single emotion. The square, white canvas served as the only given basic material.
With this series of paintings I am expressing very personal feelings that were born during a very intense time in my life as a Theater Artist trying to immigrate into the US. However, these are emotions that most people may have experienced themselves and can relate to.
This is my roller coaster of life, at the same time, it could be anyone’s.
Each piece is an original and is signed by the artist.
