Portraiture is considered one of the most challenging tasks for an artist, as capturing the soul of a subject is no easy feat. Both formally and conceptually, Jazz-minh creates an emotional intensity so palatable, the entire composition – from the general to the specific – the background to a single eye lash- functions to draw the viewer in. The curators at COMPANY are proud to include such a unique, visceral, and engaging print in the Limited Editions Market.
Artist Statement: “The title for La Goulue Self Portrait is a reference to Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec’s drawings of the French dancer. It’s a portrait of the emotional tangles inherent in being a passionate person.”
