I have searched high and low and I can’t find ANY vintage Dooney bag quite like this one!
Gorgeously aged thick brown leather is supple and pliable. Check out the unique triangle details up the sides! Large bucket-style bag with long adjustable cross-body strap. Drawstring with tassels! Heavy-duty brass hardware. Shoulder strap rivets have Dooney & Bourke stamped on the back (see photos) Interior is unlined, has leather key fob attached above the tag.
Red, White and Blue tag reads Dooney & Bourke Made in USA. Serial # A7 053530
The tag has been partially cut indicating that at one time this bag was sold at an outlet.
Note that this bag does not carry the ‘All-Weather Leather’ Duck seal so I must assume this bag is not waterproof like later-made Dooney bags.
The bag measures 12.25" tall, 14" wide and 5" deep on the bottom. Strap is adjustable up to 50" long. Bag weighs 2 pounds.
This bag is in excellent vintage condition! There is general wear and aging which gives this bag its unique look. The construction is solid and there are no loose threads, all hardware is intact. The piping has worn out for about an inch at each of the bottom corners.
This bag is a MUST-HAVE for serious collectors and connoisseurs of American Made products! It is clearly made of the finest materials and craftsmanship. This bag has incredible style and presence!
